Introduction
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) is another crucial focus area of Slum Life Survival (SLS). Recognizing the fundamental importance of clean water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene practices for the well-being of slum communities, SLS has developed a comprehensive set of interventions under the WASH program. By addressing the challenges related to water management, sanitation, and hygiene, SLS aims to improve the overall health and quality of life for slum dwellers.
Water Conservation & Management
SLS focuses on sustainable water resource utilization and conservation within slum communities. This includes the implementation of water management techniques, such as water storage systems and water conservation awareness campaigns. We also work towards rehabilitating existing water resources and establishing new sources to ensure access to clean and safe water for slum dwellers. SLS aims to address the scarcity and quality issues related to water in slum areas by improving water management practices,
Sanitation Management and Rehabilitation:
This intervention aims to enhance waste management systems and promote cleanliness within slum communities. SLS actively engages in community clean-up drives, waste segregation, and waste disposal infrastructure development. This intervention also involves the construction and maintenance of sanitation structures, such as public toilets and community bathing facilities, to ensure proper hygiene practices and reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases. By focusing on sanitation, SLS aims to create healthier and more hygienic living environments for slum dwellers.
Hygiene and Health Resilience in Slums
This program encompasses various initiatives related to healthcare, health education, and overall well-being. SLS promotes access to healthcare services within slum communities, including basic medical assistance, vaccinations, and health check-ups. The organization conducts health and wellness awareness campaigns, providing information and education on proper hygiene practices, disease prevention, and personal care. By addressing hygiene-related issues, SLS aims to improve the overall health and hygiene standards of slum dwellers, leading to a healthier and more productive community
