From Financial Struggles to Business Growth

“Before I received entrepreneurship training from Slum Life Survival Uganda, my business was not performing well. I owned a small shop and worked as a tailor, but I often struggled to manage the money I earned. I did not keep proper records, and it was difficult to know whether my business was making a profit or simply using up the money I received.

At times, I would use business income to meet personal and household needs without properly planning for the future. This made it challenging to restock my shop, purchase tailoring materials, and keep the business running smoothly. I knew I wanted to improve my situation, but I lacked the knowledge and confidence to manage my business effectively.

The entrepreneurship training provided by Slum Life Survival Uganda became an important turning point for me. Through the training, I learned how to keep business records, track my income and expenses, calculate profit, manage cash flow, and make better financial decisions. I also learned the importance of separating business money from personal money and planning my spending carefully.

One of the most valuable lessons I gained was the importance of saving. I learned that even small, consistent savings can make a difference over time. I began paying more attention to how I used my income and making an effort to save for future business needs and emergencies.

Today, I feel more confident in managing my shop and tailoring work. I have a better understanding of my business finances, and I am more organized in planning my expenses and setting goals. Although I am still working toward growing my business, I can now see positive changes in my life and have greater hope for the future.

I am thankful to Slum Life Survival Uganda for equipping me with practical knowledge and skills that I can use every day. The training has helped me understand that improving a business is not only about earning more money, but also about managing what I earn wisely, saving consistently, and planning for a better future.”
