Overview
Slum Life Survival (SLS) is dedicated to amplifying the voices of slum communities and advocating for policies and programs that enhance their quality of life. Through grassroots mobilization, policy engagement, and capacity-building initiatives, SLS strives to influence local, national, and international decision-making processes to ensure social inclusion, equitable development, and improved services for marginalized urban communities.
Key Objectives
Policy Engagement and Social Justice Advocacy
- Lobby for policies that promote equitable urban development, access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
- Engage with government agencies, policymakers, and local councils to influence decisions that affect slum communities.
- Advocate for women’s rights, youth empowerment, and financial inclusion.
Community Mobilization and Grassroots Activism
- Organize town hall meetings, public forums, and dialogue sessions to give slum dwellers a platform to voice their concerns.
- Empower local community leaders and youth to lead advocacy efforts on pressing issues such as WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), housing rights, and environmental sustainability.
- Strengthen partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs), NGOs, and media houses to amplify advocacy campaigns.
Human Rights and Social Protection
- Advocate for the protection of vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
- Fight against gender-based violence, child labor, and exploitation by creating awareness and offering support to victims.
- Work with legal experts and human rights organizations to provide legal aid and guidance to marginalized populations.
Education and Youth Empowerment Advocacy

- Support the 1000 UGX Campaign, which aims to mobilize 1,000,000 people to donate 1,000 UGX each to fund children’s education.

Healthcare and WASH Advocacy
- Campaign for improved access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene services in slum communities.
- Advocate for community health programs, including maternal health, mental health awareness, and nutrition support.
